Taipei Arts International Association

Taipei Arts International Association

Dedicated to opening new horizons for Chinese-language arts, the Taipei Arts International Association was founded in 1998 to launch the first Taipei Arts Festival. By continuing to run the Taipei Arts Festival, it set an international standard for large-scale arts festivals in Taiwan, and it went on to host the International City Arts Festival, becoming Taiwan’s most important platform for international exchange in the performing arts.

It pioneered events including the Taiwan World Music Festival, the Taiwan International Dance Camp, Wilderness Olympia, the National Theater & Concert Hall Plaza Arts Festival and the World Theatre Academy, bringing together international cultural exchange programs, introducing world-class, forward-looking and diverse arts and cross-disciplinary festivals, and leading a wave of multicultural creative collaboration in Taiwan.

Its curated productions, such as the National Performing Arts Fair and the cultural program of the Taipei Summer Universiade, have shown the wide-reaching impact of Taiwan’s cultural events and built a platform for exchange between Taiwan and the international performing arts community.

From Window of the City, the thematic show commissioned for Expo 2010 Shanghai, to Memories Under the Banyan Tree, the architectural projection-mapping fantasia created in 2017 for the opening of the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying), its works have set higher yet accessible standards for live performance, greatly broadened the audience for high-end art, and established a significant place for Chinese-language art on the international stage.
